Combat Aces (Beta) is an unreleased Sega Genesis game from the early 1990s. It was developed by Sega and intended as a combat flight simulator, but the project was ultimately canceled before a final version reached store shelves. It exists now only as a prototype, a glimpse into what might have been during the 16-bit era's competitive flight action genre.

You pilot a fighter jet through side-scrolling levels, engaging enemy aircraft and ground targets with your primary cannon and a limited supply of missiles. Your main objective is to survive each stage, destroying everything in your path while dodging incoming fire. The game features a two-player cooperative mode, allowing a friend to join in, and a unique power-up system that lets you collect different weapon enhancements scattered throughout the missions. The pacing is fast, and the screen can quickly fill with enemy projectiles, demanding quick reflexes. Navigating through the chaotic skies and managing your special weapons creates a challenging, arcade-style experience.
