Man, College Slam is pure '90s arcade basketball chaos—in the best way. You pick a college team (I always went with the blue and yellow one, no idea why), and suddenly you're throwing alley-oops that would get you benched in real life. The players move way too fast, the dunks are ridiculous, and the announcer sounds like he’s hyped up on soda.
First time I played, I accidentally did a 360 dunk with the wrong button combo and just stuck with that move forever. The AI isn’t exactly smart—you can cheese the same play over and over—but who cares when the crowd goes nuts every time you do a between-the-legs jam? Also, the soundtrack has this one synth track that gets stuck in your head for days.
It’s not deep, but if you want to burn five minutes yelling at the screen with a friend, this is the game. Just don’t expect realism—your point guard will probably dunk from the free-throw line.
