Chuck Rock came out for the Sega Genesis in 1991, developed by Core Design. It was part of that early 90s wave of side-scrollers, a straightforward action game that didn't try to be more than it was.

You control Chuck, a caveman on a mission to rescue his wife, Ophelia, who has been kidnapped by the villainous Gary Gritter. The game plays out across a series of prehistoric levels. Your main methods of attack are a comically large belly bump to shove enemies away and the ability to pick up and throw rocks. You navigate screen by screen, jumping across pits and climbing vines, while dealing with dinosaurs and other creatures. The pacing is generally brisk, though some platforming sections can be tricky. It feels like a simple, physical game where you are constantly pushing and throwing your way through the environment.
