Okay, so Chou Touryuu Retsuden Dino Land is this weird little Genesis/Master System dinosaur platformer that feels like someone mashed up Jurassic Park with an arcade game. You start off jumping over these chunky pixelated raptors and pterodactyls—the controls are stiff in that classic early-90s way, but there's something oddly satisfying about timing your jumps just right.
The backgrounds are surprisingly lush for the era, with these dense jungles and bubbling lava pits. I remember getting stuck on this one level where you have to hop between floating logs while dodging pterodactyls, and yeah, I may have thrown my controller once or twice. The music’s all synthy and intense, like it’s trying way too hard to be epic, but it kinda works?
Not gonna lie, it’s janky by modern standards, but if you’re into obscure retro platformers with dinosaurs (and let’s be real, who isn’t?), it’s a fun time capsule. Just don’t expect it to hold your hand.
