Okay, so Cheese Cat-Astrophe Starring Speedy Gonzales is one of those weirdly charming Sega Genesis platformers that feels like it was made after someone had too much coffee. You play as Speedy Gonzales—yeah, the mouse—dashing through levels full of cats trying to steal cheese. The controls are slippery in that classic 16-bit way, so you’ll slide into enemies more than you’d like at first.
The levels are short but packed with traps, and the music is this weirdly catchy mix of mariachi and synth. I remember getting stuck on this one part where you have to bounce off floating cheese wheels—took me way too many tries to get the timing right. Not the deepest game, but it’s got personality, and the sprite work is actually pretty great for a licensed title.
If you’re into obscure Genesis games or just love Speedy’s whole vibe, it’s a fun little time capsule.
