Chase HQ II came out for the Sega Genesis in 1992, developed and published by Taito. It was part of that wave of arcade-style racers that felt right at home on the console, a direct follow-up to the original chase-and-arrest formula. You control an undercover agent driving a high-performance sports car. Your main job is to chase down criminal vehicles on various city highways, ramming them until their damage meter depletes and they surrender. The game is split into two distinct phases for each stage: first, you have a time limit to catch up to the target car, weaving through traffic; then, once you make contact, a combat phase begins where you must repeatedly smash into the enemy car before your own health runs out. The difficulty escalates quickly, with faster targets and more aggressive traffic patterns in later stages. It feels like a tense, high-speed pursuit where a single wrong move can wreck your car and end the mission.
