Castlevania: Portrait of Ruin came out for the Nintendo DS in 2006, developed and published by Konami. You explore the castle screen by screen, fighting skeletons and zombies with whips and spells, while hunting for keys and new abilities to open up more of the map. The pacing is generally brisk, though some boss fights can be tough and require learning their patterns. It feels like a direct, action-focused adventure where managing two characters keeps you constantly engaged.
