Captain America: Super Soldier came out on the Nintendo DS in 2011, published by Sega. It was part of that wave of movie tie-in games on the handheld, where you got a portable version that often did its own thing compared to the bigger console releases. This one tried to capture the feel of the Captain America film from that same year, but on the smaller screen.

You play as Steve Rogers, Captain America himself, moving through a series of side-scrolling levels. Your main goal is to stop the Hydra forces that have taken over a castle fortress. The gameplay mixes platforming with brawler combat; you'll jump across gaps and climb walls, then engage squads of Hydra soldiers. A key mechanic is using Cap's shield, both to block incoming fire and to target and throw at enemies or specific objects in the environment. The levels are linear, pushing you from one combat encounter or light puzzle to the next, and the difficulty feels fair, asking you to time your blocks and attacks carefully. It feels solid to control, a straightforward action game that makes good use of the character's abilities.
