Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 - Defiance came out for the Nintendo DS in 2011, developed by n-Space. It was one of the later first-person shooters on the handheld, arriving when the 3DS was already on the horizon. Having a Modern Warfare game in your pocket felt ambitious, even if it was a scaled-down experience.
You control a soldier through a series of missions, fighting to stop a global conflict. The action is split between on-foot combat and vehicle sections, like manning a helicopter's gun. You use the touch screen for aiming and gestures for melee attacks or reloading. The levels are linear, guiding you from one firefight to the next with a brisk pace. It can be challenging, with enemies that flank and grenade indicators forcing you to keep moving. Playing it feels like a condensed, tactile version of a console Call of Duty.
