Cadash came out for the Sega Genesis in 1992, published by Taito. It was part of that wave of arcade-style action games that tried to bring a deeper, more RPG-like feel to the 16-bit console. You pick one of four characters: a Fighter, a Mage, a Priest, or a Ninja. Your goal is to fight through a series of monster-filled dungeons and defeat the dragon Cadash. The game plays out screen by screen; you clear enemies from one area before moving to the next. You use your primary weapon, a sword or a bow, and you also collect gold to buy better equipment and gain experience points to level up your stats. The pacing is deliberate, and the difficulty is noticeable, especially when managing your limited magic points for spells. It feels like a condensed adventure where every new shield or level gained makes a tangible difference in your survival.
