Burning Force is one of those Genesis games that makes you feel like you're flying a spaceship on a sugar rush. You're basically a futuristic biker cop in space, weaving through asteroid fields and blasting enemy ships with this weirdly satisfying lock-on laser. The first level throws you right into it—no tutorials, just pure 90s "figure it out as you go" energy.
The hoverbike controls take a second to click—it's not quite a shooter, not quite a racing game, but somehow the awkwardness adds to the charm. And that soundtrack? Pure synth cheese in the best way possible. By the third stage when the screen starts scrolling vertically and enemies come at you from all angles, you'll either rage-quit or develop a weird obsession with beating your high score.
It's janky, it's loud, and it absolutely belongs in any retro collection that appreciates games with personality over polish.
