Look, I won’t lie—Bubsy II is one of those games that’s equal parts charming and frustrating in that very '90s way. You play as this wisecracking bobcat who runs way too fast for his own good, bouncing off enemies and gliding awkwardly over bottomless pits. The levels are bright and weird, full of UFOs, giant yarn balls, and enemies that just… exist to ruin your momentum.
The controls take some getting used to—Bubsy slides around like he’s on ice, and that glide move? More like a controlled plummet. But there’s something weirdly addictive about it. Maybe it’s the chiptune soundtrack or the sheer absurdity of a bobcat in sneakers fighting aliens. Either way, it’s pure Sega Genesis chaos.
If you’ve got nostalgia for this era, you’ll either love it or rage-quit by level three. No in-between.
