About Brett Hull Hockey ?95
Brett Hull Hockey '95 came out for the Sega Genesis in 1994, published by Accolade. It was part of that wave of mid-90s sports games trying to carve out a space on the console, a time when every hockey title was competing for attention. You booted it up and were immediately in that familiar 16-bit sports arena.
You control a five-man hockey team, skating up and down the ice in a quest to score more goals than your opponent. The main objective is straightforward: win the game. A couple of its signature mechanics were the one-timer shot, where you could fire a pass directly into a shot for a quicker release, and the ability to check opponents off the puck with a solid body slam. The pacing is fast, and the difficulty can spike, especially when the computer decides to mount an aggressive forecheck. It feels like a scrappy, arcade-style hockey game where a quick deke can open up the ice.
