Boogerman is one of those weird, gross Genesis games that somehow works. You play as this dude in a green suit who fights by picking his nose and flinging snot—yeah, it’s exactly as ridiculous as it sounds. The first level throws you right into a swamp full of farting enemies and burp-powered jumps, and honestly? It’s kind of amazing.
The controls take a second to get used to—half the time I accidentally sneeze instead of attacking—but once you figure it out, the platforming’s actually pretty tight. Some of the later levels get surprisingly tough, especially when you’re dodging giant toilet monsters or bouncing on floating boogers. And the sound effects? Hilariously disgusting. Every belch and splat is cranked up to 11.
It’s not for everyone, but if you’re into weird retro games with zero shame, Boogerman’s a blast. Just maybe don’t play it while eating.
