About Bonkers (usa, Europe)
Bonkers came out for the Sega Genesis, known as the Mega Drive in Europe, in 1994. It was published by Sega, and it was one of many games from that period trying to capture the energy of a cartoon show. The game is based on the Disney character of the same name, a bobcat who works as a policeman.
You control Bonkers D. Bobcat through a series of different stages. The main goal is to complete various mini-games and platforming levels to help him become the head of the police force. The gameplay shifts between different styles; you run and jump through side-scrolling areas, and you also play through specific mini-game challenges. These mini-games are designed to be very forgiving, almost impossible to fail, which makes the overall experience quite easy. The challenge comes more from navigating the platforming sections and figuring out where to go next. Playing it feels like moving through a lighthearted, interactive cartoon.
