Body Count came out for the Sega Genesis in 1994, developed by Probe Entertainment. It was part of that wave of games trying to capture the feel of arcade shooters on home consoles, a time when developers were really pushing the hardware to its limits. You got a lot of these action titles that were fast and unforgiving, and this one fit right in.

You control a lone soldier fighting through a city overrun by mutants and soldiers. Your main goal is to survive each stage, clearing out enemies and moving forward. The game plays screen by screen; you enter an area, deal with everything that spawns, and then proceed once it's clear. You have a standard assault rifle with unlimited ammo, but you can pick up secondary weapons like a flamethrower or grenade launcher for tougher situations. The pacing is relentless, with enemies swarming from all directions, and the difficulty is steep, demanding quick reflexes and good positioning. It feels like a constant, tense scramble for survival where one wrong move can end your run quickly.
