Man, Bill Walsh College Football on the Genesis is one of those games that just feels right if you grew up with 16-bit sports titles. You pick your team—I always went with Notre Dame, no shame—and suddenly you're staring down a playbook that somehow makes sense despite the tiny sprites. The passing game is weirdly deep for its time, and if you figure out the timing, you can absolutely shred defenses with quick slants.
It’s not flashy by today’s standards, but there’s something satisfying about the way the players move, like they’ve got actual weight to them. And that soundtrack? Pure late-'80s synth horns, the kind that gets stuck in your head after three quarters. You’ll miss a field goal, swear at the ref sprite, and immediately hit reset to try again. Classic stuff.
If you’ve got a Genesis collecting dust, this one’s worth digging out for a lazy Sunday afternoon.
