Best of the Best is one of those early Sega Genesis fighters that feels a little rough around the edges now, but man, it had its charm. You pick from a roster of martial artists—karate, kung fu, even a boxer—and duke it out in these tiny, kinda stiff arenas. The animations are choppy, but there’s something satisfying about landing a spinning kick just right.
It’s not as polished as Street Fighter II, but back in the day, this was one of the few options for a straight-up fighting game on Genesis. The controls take some getting used to, and the AI can be brutal if you don’t figure out the timing. Still, if you’re into retro fighters, it’s a neat little time capsule of early '90s brawlers.
