Beast Wrestler is one of those weird, janky Genesis fighting games that somehow sticks with you. You pick from these hulking monster wrestlers—some look like rejected Godzilla villains, others are just buff dudes with animal heads—and then it's all about timing your slams and grapples just right.
The controls take a minute to click (good luck pulling off a piledriver on your first try), but once they do, there's something satisfying about the way your beast lumbers around the ring. Fights feel heavy, like you're actually controlling these massive creatures instead of just tapping out combos. And the sprite work? Surprisingly detailed for 1991—especially when your guy starts bleeding after taking too many hits.
It's not exactly balanced (good luck beating the final boss without cheesing it), but that almost adds to the charm. You'll either love its clunky, over-the-top vibe or bounce off hard. I still fire it up sometimes when I want something loud, dumb, and full of screeching monster noises.
