Batman: Revenge of the Joker on the Sega Genesis is one of those games that looks amazing for its time—smooth animations, detailed sprites, and a moody Gotham vibe—but man, it does not go easy on you. The Joker’s back (of course), and you’re jumping, shooting, and dodging through levels that feel like they were designed to test your patience. One wrong move, and suddenly you’re swarmed by enemies or falling into pits you didn’t even see coming.
It’s got that classic side-scrolling action where you’re blasting away with Batman’s grapple gun, but the controls take some getting used to. The first time I played, I kept overshooting jumps or getting hit from off-screen. Still, there’s something satisfying about finally nailing a tough section—just don’t expect to breeze through it in one sitting. The music’s solid too, all tense and superhero-y in that 16-bit way.
If you’re into punishing retro games with a cool aesthetic, this one’s worth the frustration. Just maybe keep a walkthrough handy.
