Bass Masters Classic Pro Edition is one of those weirdly satisfying Genesis fishing games where you actually have to think about what you're doing. It's not just mindless button mashing—you've got to watch the water, choose your lures carefully, and time your reeling just right. The first time I played, I spent way too long just figuring out how to not snap my line.
There's something oddly tense about seeing that lure disappear under the water and realizing you've got something big on the hook. The tournaments get pretty competitive too—you'll be cursing when a 4-pounder gets away right before weigh-in. And yeah, the graphics are obviously 16-bit, but there's a surprising amount of detail in the different fishing spots.
It's the kind of game where you'll lose an hour without noticing because you're convinced the next cast will land the tournament winner. Just don't expect it to teach you actual fishing—I still can't tie a real fishing knot.
