About Bare Knuckle Iii (japan)
Bare Knuckle III came out for the Sega Genesis in 1994, developed and published by Sega. It was the third and final game in the series, arriving at a time when side-scrolling beat 'em ups were a staple of the 16-bit era.
You control one of four characters, including Axel, Blaze, Skate, and the new cyborg Dr. Zan, fighting through city streets and enemy hideouts. Your main goal is to defeat the criminal syndicate led by Mr. X, moving screen by screen and clearing each area of thugs and robots. Signature mechanics include a special attack you can unleash at the cost of some health, and the ability to call in a screen-clearing police backup attack once per stage. The pacing is fast, with enemies swarming from both sides, and the difficulty can be punishing if you get surrounded. It feels like a solid, frantic brawl from start to finish.
