About Baby?s Day Out (earlier)
Baby's Day Out for the Sega Genesis was released in 1996, developed by Eurocom and published by Hi Tech Expressions. It arrived late in the console's life, a side scrolling platformer based on the family film of the same name. The game was part of that wave of movie licensed titles that tried to capture a younger audience.
You control the baby, Bink, navigating him through a series of urban environments. Your main goal is simply to get from the start of the level to the end, avoiding hazards and enemies. The gameplay involves a lot of crawling and some jumping, with specific mechanics for climbing up ropes and using a slingshot to hit distant objects or enemies. The pace is generally slow, mirroring a baby's movement, but the level design can be surprisingly unforgiving with instant death pits and tricky enemy placements. It feels like a cautious, often frustrating crawl through a world that is comically oversized and dangerous.
