About Awesome Possum (beta)
Awesome Possum was a Sega Genesis game from the early 90s, developed by Tengen. It arrived during a time when the console was full of mascot platformers trying to capture the speed and style of Sonic the Hedgehog, and this one put its own spin on the genre with an environmentalist theme.
You control a possum named Awesome, running and jumping through side scrolling stages. Your main goal is to stop the villain Dr. Machino from polluting the world. The gameplay involves navigating levels screen by screen, collecting recyclable items like soda cans for points, and occasionally using a spin attack to defeat robotic enemies. The pacing is fast, but the controls can feel slippery, making some jumps more difficult than they should be. Playing it feels like a race against awkward physics as much as against the level timer.
