If you grew up with the Asterix comics, this Sega Genesis game is pure nostalgia. You play as Asterix (or Obelix in co-op), punching Roman soldiers into the stratosphere while hunting down kidnapped villagers across bright, cartoony levels that feel ripped straight from the comics.
The first thing you’ll notice? Obelix is hilariously overpowered—he one-shots most enemies while Asterix has to land a few more hits. The platforming’s simple but satisfying, with hidden bonus rooms tucked behind breakable walls and the occasional puzzle where you’re stacking barrels or flipping switches. And yeah, the music’s that classic Genesis chiptune sound, all bouncy and upbeat.
It’s not the deepest platformer out there, but there’s something weirdly addictive about plowing through Roman camps, collecting golden laurels, and watching enemies go flying after a well-timed punch. Just don’t expect a challenge until the later levels—those legionnaires love to swarm you.
