Man, Asterix and The Great Rescue on the Sega Genesis sounded like a dream—who wouldn’t want to smash Romans as Obelix? But man, this one misses the mark. The stages are brutal, not because they’re cleverly designed, but because the timer’s always breathing down your neck. And Obelix? Half the time he’s just dead weight, which feels wrong for the strongest guy in Gaul.
The worst part? The hit detection. You’ll swing at a legionnaire, swear you nailed him, and nope—he just walks through your punch like it’s nothing. It’s frustrating in that old-school way where you’re not sure if it’s you or the game being unfair. Stick to the SNES Asterix titles if you want a decent Gaulish brawl.
