Arnold Palmer Tournament Golf on the Genesis is one of those old-school golf sims that somehow nails the tension of lining up a putt while still being weirdly relaxing. You start by picking your clubs—woods for distance, irons for precision—and then it’s just you, the wind, and those pixelated greens. The courses look simple at first glance, but slopes and hazards actually matter, so you can’t just whack the ball and hope.
What I love is how it forces you to think like a real golfer. Misjudge the wind or over-swing, and suddenly you’re in the rough, scrambling to save par. The putting mechanics are brutal but fair—none of that auto-aim nonsense. And yeah, the graphics are dated, but there’s charm in those chunky sprites and the way the camera follows your shot in this slow, dramatic arc.
It’s not flashy, but if you want a golf game that rewards patience and punishes recklessness, this one’s still got it. Just don’t blame me when you three-putt on the 18th.
