Arch Rivals on the Genesis is that weird, janky basketball game where punching your opponent in the face is just as important as scoring. You pick from these ridiculous characters—my go-to was the mohawk guy—and then it’s basically NBA Jam’s chaotic cousin with way more elbows to the ribs.
The court feels tiny, the physics are nonsense, and half the time you’re laughing at how over-the-top the fouls are. Dunking is satisfying once you figure out the timing, but honestly? I spent most matches shoving people into the bleachers. Local multiplayer’s where it shines—nothing like stealing the ball and hearing your friend yell as you sprint for an easy layup.
It’s not deep, but it’s stupid fun in short bursts. Just don’t expect a basketball simulator.
