Okay, so Aquatic Games With James Pond is basically the weirdest, most British take on an underwater Olympics you’ll ever play. You control this lanky secret agent fish (yes, really) in a bunch of minigames—some are races, some are obstacle courses, and a few are just bizarre, like trying to inflate a balloon without getting popped by sea urchins.
The controls are slippery in that classic early-90s way, so don’t expect precision. You’ll overshoot jumps, bonk into coral, and probably swear at the high-diving event at least once. But that’s part of the charm—it’s janky in a way that makes you laugh instead of rage-quit.
Visually, it’s peak Sega Genesis: bright colors, goofy character designs, and water effects that were probably mind-blowing in 1991. The music’s cheery in that "we only had three sound channels" kind of way. It’s not a deep game, but it’s a fun couch co-op time if you’re into retro silliness. Just don’t take the high score too seriously.
