Aliens: Infestation came out for the Nintendo DS in 2011, developed by WayForward Technologies. It landed during a time when the DS library was full of creative takes on established franchises, and this one was their shot at the Alien universe. You get a side scrolling action game that feels like it belongs on that little dual screen system.

You control a squad of colonial marines sent to investigate a derelict spaceship, and your main goal is to survive the xenomorph infestation while figuring out what happened. The game plays out screen by screen, with you exploring the ship's corridors and engineering bays, blasting aliens with a variety of rifles, flamethrowers, and smartguns. A key mechanic is your permanent death system; if a marine dies, they are gone for good, and a new recruit takes their place. This forces you to be cautious, managing your limited saves and health kits carefully. The pacing is tense, and the difficulty can be punishing if you rush in. Moving through the dark, clanking halls with the constant threat of an ambush makes the whole experience feel genuinely unnerving.
