Man, Aero the Acro-Bat is one of those Genesis games that looks cute but will absolutely wreck you if you're not careful. You play as this circus bat (yeah, a bat who does trapeze acts—just roll with it) flipping and gliding through these wild obstacle courses full of spinning blades, fire hoops, and clowns that just love to get in your way.
The controls take a second to click—you've got this floaty mid-air spin move that feels weird until you realize it's the only thing saving you from faceplanting into spikes for the tenth time. The later levels get brutal, but there's something satisfying about nailing a perfect run through those moving platforms.
Also, the soundtrack slaps. That circus-y synth track in the first level? Still stuck in my head 20 years later. Just don't expect to beat Edgar Ektor on your first try—dude's a menace. This game holds up way better than it has any right to.
