Adventures of Mighty Max is one of those mid-90s platformers that feels like it got lost in the shuffle—probably because it came out right when the Genesis was on its way out. You play as Max, this tiny kid in a baseball cap who jumps around levels that look like they were pulled straight from the cartoon. The first thing you notice? The sprites are actually pretty detailed for the time, especially Max’s goofy little run animation.
It’s got that classic side-scroller setup: jump on enemies, collect power-ups, and try not to fall into pits. Some of the platforming can be weirdly precise, though—like, you’ll swear you made that jump, but nope, down you go. The later levels get brutal, but there’s something satisfying about finally nailing a tricky section after a dozen tries. If you grew up with the show or just dig obscure Genesis games, it’s a fun little time capsule.
