16 Zhang Ma Jiang Game

16 Zhang Ma Jiang is one of those old-school Sega Genesis games that feels like digging up a forgotten treasure. It’s straight-up traditional mahjong—no fancy gimmicks, just clean tile-matching with that satisfying click when you make a pair. The controls are simple (d-pad and a button, obviously), but don’t let that fool you—some of the later layouts get surprisingly tricky.
I love how it doesn’t overcomplicate things. You’ve got your bamboo, circles, and characters staring back at you, and the goal’s always the same: clear the board. No timers, no flashy power-ups, just you and the tiles. It’s weirdly relaxing until you hit a puzzle where the last pair is buried under three layers. Then it’s pure agony.
If you’ve ever played solitaire mahjong on a computer, this is the 16-bit granddaddy of that. Perfect for quick sessions when you want something familiar but just engaging enough to make you think. The music’s got that classic Sega chiptune vibe too—simple loops, but they grow on you.
