About Zoocube
ZooCube came out for the Game Boy Advance in 2002, published by Acclaim Entertainment. It was part of that early wave of GBA puzzle games that tried to do something different with the hardware, offering a 3D style on a 2D screen. You would see it alongside other abstract titles, a distinct shape in a sea of platformers and RPGs.
You control a claw at the bottom of the screen, catching falling animal blocks as they tumble down from the top. The main goal is to match three identical animals on any of the cube's six faces to make them disappear before the structure overflows. The core mechanics involve rotating the entire 3D cube to see all its sides and physically tossing blocks from one face to an adjacent one to set up combos. The pace is relentless; the blocks fall faster as you progress, and the cube slowly fills up, creating a real spatial challenge. It feels like you are constantly managing a collapsing architecture, a tense but satisfying fight against gravity itself.
