Zoids Saga Fuzors came out for the Game Boy Advance in 2004, developed and published by Tomy. It was part of that wave of GBA RPGs you could sink hours into, a time when portable games were really starting to feel like full console experiences in your pocket. This one was based on the Zoids mecha franchise, so if you were into the models or the shows, it was a natural fit.

You control a pilot who commands a Zoid, a customizable animal-like mech, and your main goal is to explore the world, fight in turn-based battles, and uncover the story. The game plays out screen by screen as you travel across different environments, engaging enemies on a separate battle screen where you select attacks and special moves for your Zoid. A big part of the loop is collecting parts to build and upgrade your Zoid, and you can even fuse components to create more powerful Fuzors versions. The pacing is methodical, with a fair amount of grinding needed to keep your machine competitive, and the random encounters keep you on your toes. It feels like a solid, hands-on project of building your own perfect war machine from the ground up.
