I picked up Yu-Gi-Oh! Destiny Board Traveler when it came out for the Game Boy Advance in 2004, a Konami title that landed right in the middle of the handheld's busy life. It was one of many games trying to capture the card game's spirit on a small screen, a time when you'd find these titles tucked between more action-heavy adventures.

You control Yugi and his friends, moving them across a board game style map. The main goal is to defeat the opponent's spirit by landing on their space, but getting there is the real challenge. You roll a die to move, drawing cards and activating trap panels that can help you or set you back. Each turn feels like a small battle, deciding whether to advance or play a card to protect your position. The pacing is deliberate, almost tense, because a single bad roll can undo your progress. Playing it feels like a careful, strategic duel where every move matters.
