I picked up Yogi Bear: Great Balloon Blast for the Game Boy Color back around 2000. It was a Kemco release, one of those many licensed games that filled the portable library during that era. You knew what to expect: a straightforward adventure starring a familiar cartoon character, built for quick sessions on the go.
You control Yogi Bear, moving him screen by screen through Jellystone Park. Your main goal is to collect picnic baskets scattered everywhere while avoiding the park ranger. The signature mechanic is using balloons. You can inflate them to float over gaps or bounce on them to reach higher platforms. It is a simple collection game, but the ranger's patrols add a constant, low level tension. Navigating the platforms and timing your balloon jumps gives the play a light, bouncy rhythm. It feels like a cheerful, uncomplicated way to pass the time.
