Yaoxi Dao was a Game Boy Advance title that came out in the early 2000s, a time when the handheld was full of action and adventure games. You control a young warrior exploring a cursed island, moving screen by screen through forests, caves, and ancient temples. Your main goal is to find the three scattered seals to break the island's curse. You use a short sword for close combat against the local wildlife and restless spirits, and you also find a bow for hitting switches and dealing with enemies from a distance. The dungeons are full of block-pushing puzzles and keys to find for locked doors. The game has a steady pace; it's not overly difficult, but it requires you to pay attention to your surroundings. Playing it feels like slowly uncovering a quiet, forgotten story.
