If you grew up with the GBA and love the X-Men, this one’s a solid pick. You get to play as Wolverine, Nightcrawler, and Iceman—each with their own moves and quirks. Wolverine slashes through enemies like butter, Nightcrawler teleports in a puff of smoke (which never gets old), and Iceman… well, he slides around shooting ice beams, obviously.
The levels are pretty straightforward—beat up bad guys, jump over pits, that sort of thing—but the mutant powers add just enough variety to keep it fun. Some of the boss fights actually make you think, especially if you’re playing as Nightcrawler and have to zip around strategically. The pixel art holds up, too—Wolverine’s claws still look mean as hell.
It’s not the deepest game out there, but for a quick dose of mutant action on the go, it does the job. Just don’t expect a deep story—this is pure comic book brawling.
