I picked up Worms World Party for the Game Boy Advance back when it was new, a cartridge that brought the series' turn based artillery chaos to a handheld. Team17 developed and published it, fitting right into the GBA's library of portable strategy and action games. It was one of those titles you could play in short bursts or for longer sessions, a solid adaptation of a formula that was already popular on computers and consoles.

You command a team of worms, taking turns with another player or the AI to eliminate the opposing team. The main goal is to be the last squad standing on a destructible 2D landscape. Your turn involves selecting a weapon from a large arsenal, things like bazookas, grenades, and the infamous Holy Hand Grenade, then carefully aiming while accounting for wind strength and direction. You also move your worm around the terrain, which can be a puzzle in itself as you jump, ninja rope, or teleport to better positions. The pacing is methodical, but a single lucky shot can instantly turn the tables, making every decision feel significant. It feels clever and silly at the same time, a game of calculated chaos where a well placed explosive is deeply satisfying.
