Worms World Party came out for the Game Boy Advance in 2002, published by THQ. It was part of that wave of turn-based strategy games you could take anywhere, a portable version of the chaotic battles that were popular on computers. This wasn't a game about building bases or managing resources; it was about a team of worms trying to blow each other up.

You control a squad of worms, taking turns with another player or the AI to move across a destructible landscape. The main goal is to be the last team standing by eliminating all opposing worms. Your turn involves crawling or jumping to a better position, then using a weapon like a bazooka, grenade, or the infamous Holy Hand Grenade to attack. You have to account for wind when aiming projectiles, and the terrain crumbles away wherever explosions happen, constantly changing the battlefield. The pacing is methodical, but a single lucky shot can completely turn the tide of a match. It feels like a tense, ridiculous chess match where every move could end in sudden, comical violence.
