Worms Blast came out for the Game Boy Advance in 2002, developed by Team17. It was a time when the GBA was full of puzzle games and quirky spinoffs, and this one took the familiar Worms characters into a completely different genre. Instead of the turn based artillery battles the series was known for, it offered something more immediate and frantic.

You control a worm on a small watercraft, moving it left and right across the bottom of the screen. Your main objective is to clear each stage by popping all the bubbles floating above you. You do this by firing projectiles from your craft, aiming your shots to create chain reactions and combos. The signature mechanics involve collecting power ups that change your weapon, like a spread shot or a laser, and dealing with enemy worms that fire back at you. The pacing is quick, and the difficulty ramps up as the screen layouts get more complex and enemies become more aggressive. It feels like a fast paced arcade puzzle game where you are constantly aiming and dodging.
