Worms Blast came out for the Game Boy Advance in 2002, developed by Team17. It was a time when the GBA library was full of experiments, and this one took the familiar, comedic worms and dropped them into a puzzle game. It felt like a strange but interesting detour from the usual artillery battles the series was known for.

You control a worm on a small, single-screen raft floating on water. The main goal is to clear the screen of colored blocks by matching three or more of the same color, which you do by firing a cannon. Your worm automatically moves back and forth, and you time your shots to hit the blocks above. Two key mechanics define the action: you can collect power-ups that change your shot, like a spread shot or a laser, and enemy worms will appear on their own rafts to fire back at you, trying to knock you into the water. The pacing is quick, and the difficulty ramps up as the stages get more complex, demanding good timing and a bit of strategy. It feels like a frantic, aquatic puzzle shootout where a single mistimed shot can send you sinking.
