World Tennis Stars came out for the Game Boy Advance in 2000, developed by Microids. It was one of the early attempts to bring a straightforward tennis simulation to the handheld, arriving before more polished sports titles defined the system's library. You get a simple selection of male and female players, each with slightly different stats, and the game presents itself without much flair.

You control your chosen tennis player from a side view of the court, moving them to intercept the ball and swing with a button press. The main goal is to win matches in either singles or doubles play, progressing through a tournament bracket. Two mechanics stand out: the ability to charge your shot for more power and the use of a simple topspin or slice by pressing a direction during your swing. Matches can feel a bit slow, and the computer opponent's difficulty is inconsistent, sometimes making easy returns and other times missing simple shots. It feels like a basic, functional tennis game that gets the job done when you want a quick match.
