About Wizardry Empire - Fukkatsu No Tsue (japan)
Wizardry Empire: Fukkatsu No Tsue came out in 1999 for the Game Boy Color, developed by Givro and published by Starfish. It was part of that late era for the handheld, when developers were still squeezing deep, complex games into the small cartridge format. This one is a Japan only release, a dungeon crawler that continues the long running Wizardry series tradition.
You control a party of adventurers, customizing their classes and stats, and guide them through a first person, grid based dungeon. Your main goal is to explore the labyrinth, fight monsters in turn based combat, and ultimately recover the Staff of Resurrection. The game proceeds screen by screen, mapping the dungeon as you go. Combat is menu driven, letting you choose between sword attacks, spells, or using items for each character. The pacing is deliberate, and the difficulty is steep; one wrong turn can lead to a deadly encounter or getting lost. It feels like a careful, methodical test of your planning and patience every time you step deeper into the dark.
