About Virtual Kasparov
Virtual Kasparov came out for the Game Boy Advance in 2002, developed by Titus Interactive. It was part of a wave of portable chess games that tried to bring a serious opponent into your pocket, a time when having a computer rival on the go was still a novelty for many players.
You play as yourself, facing off against the chess engine. The main goal is to win games of chess against the computer, which offers a range of difficulty levels to suit different skills. Signature mechanics include the ability to take back moves to learn from your errors, and a coaching mode that gives you hints when you are stuck. The pacing is methodical, demanding careful thought for each turn, and the higher difficulty settings provide a stiff challenge. It feels like having a patient, relentless tutor that never gets tired of playing.
