Virtua Fighter Animation is one of those weird little fighting games that somehow ended up on the Master System. It's based on the anime (which barely anyone remembers), and honestly, the pixel art looks way better than it has any right to. You pick from the usual VF crew—Akira, Sarah, Jacky—but everything's flattened into 2D, so it plays more like a janky Street Fighter clone than the 3D original.

The story mode's just an excuse to fight through a bunch of matches with some badly translated cutscenes, but hey, at least it's there. Special moves are awkward to pull off with the Master System's three-button pad, but landing a spinning piledriver with Wolf never gets old. It's not deep, but there's charm in its clunkiness.

If you're into obscure fighting game oddities, this one's a fun time capsule.
