About V-rally 3 (u)(rising Sun)
V-Rally 3 came out for the Game Boy Advance in 2002, published by Atari. It arrived when the handheld was filling up with racing games, and this one tried to bring a serious rally experience to a small screen. You could feel the ambition right away, even before you started an engine.
You control a rally driver through a series of international events, from gravel tracks to tarmac stages. The main objective is to win the championship by finishing first across multiple rallies and seasons. Signature mechanics include a detailed car setup where you adjust gear ratios and suspension before each race, and a co-driver who calls out pace notes warning you about upcoming corners. The racing is fast and mistakes are costly; clipping a barrier can spin you out and ruin your time. It feels tense and demanding, like you are constantly balancing speed against the risk of crashing.
