Ultra Keibitai: Monster Attack came out for the Game Boy Advance in 2002, published by Konami. It was part of that wave of GBA games that tried to do something a little different with established genres, in this case taking the tower defense concept and shrinking it down for a handheld screen. You don't see many people talk about it now, but it had a certain charm for what it was.

You control a small, stationary unit at the bottom of the screen, and your job is to stop waves of monsters from reaching your base. The main objective is to survive all the enemy waves on each stage. Your primary tools are a rapid-fire gun and a limited supply of screen-clearing bombs. The key mechanic is managing your firepower; you can hold the button to charge a more powerful shot, which is essential for taking out tougher enemies, but it leaves you vulnerable while charging. You also have to constantly pivot left and right to cover the entire width of the playfield as enemies pour in from the top. The pacing is relentless, and the difficulty ramps up quickly, demanding quick reflexes and smart use of your special weapons. It feels like a tense, frantic battle against an overwhelming tide where every shot counts.
