Ultimate Spider-Man on GBA is basically the closest you could get to feeling like Spidey on a tiny screen back in the day. You start off swinging between these chunky pixel buildings—the physics are surprisingly decent for a handheld—and immediately get thrown into beating up thugs in alleys. The punches have that satisfying comic book "THWIP" sound.
What I like is how it mixes up the action—one minute you're chasing Shocker through traffic, next you're doing these weird wall-jumping puzzles. The graphics pop with bright colors, especially when Venom shows up looking all glisteny and gross. Some of the boss fights drag a bit, but nailing a perfect web-swing combo over police cars never gets old.
It's not perfect (that sewer level can go to hell), but for a GBA game, it nails the Spider-Man vibe better than most. Just don't expect Spider-Man 2-level swinging—this is pure, condensed superhero chaos in your pocket.
